Loch Bar

Oh Loch Bar.  Part of the Atlas Group, which includes Ouzo Bay and Azumi.  They are in the Four Seasons in Harbor East.  It has been a long time coming, and I actually still miss my coffee shop, just a little.

Loch Bar is a raw bar with some of your favorite Maryland seafood. The raw bar includes a rotating list of oysters from both the east and the west coast.  We were sitting at the bar and had some help from the bartender as to which ones we wanted.  Although, the list comes with your classic plump, sweet, salty descriptions.

Like with most of the Atlas’s groups restaurants – there is a craft cocktail and extensive craft beer; 15 taps.  Plus, there is a nice wine list – with lots of great wines by the glass and even more buy the bottle.  Plus, they have Baltimore’s favorite outdoor dining drink – the crush – which is usually on happy hour.

After a couple oysters, we snacked on the cheese and charcuterie with our glasses of Alsatian white wine.  So far, my only complaint at this bar is that they don’t walk you through the cheese plate.  It’s on the menu, but we have usually turned those back by the time it comes.  And with this much food, we need a few more slices of bread or crackers.

Last, but not least, this lobster roll.  You need it.  Huge, huge lumps of lobster basted in butter and placed on this gorgeous toasted bun with chives and celery leaves.  This is fantastic.  Tons of lobster; it overflows the bun, which is fine, because then you get to eat it with your fingers.  It’s not my favorite local lobster roll, but will probably be what I order every time I walk in.

This is definitely a seafood focused restaurant and they do seafood so well.  Although, you will find many great choices, be thoughtful about your seafood allergic or adverse folks.  That is of course, unless they like whiskey.  The list of whiskeys/scotches is extensive – they can separate it into regions.
